Hi everyone,

Today, we have a very important information for you.

It might be a piece of sad news. But I hope you will understand.

As of December 17, PhotoZou will no longer be able to offer its service in English.

The pages you are currently seeing in English will turn Japanese.

You can still upload and share your photos and videos, as well as make comments and write diary entries...etc, using the same account you have, but unfortunately, only in Japanese.

It was a heart breaking decision, but requirements for keeping PhotoZou bilingual made it impossible for us to maintain the quality of English messages.

If you still chose to stay with us, we would be SO happy, and grateful. This case, you will be redirected to the following URL;

http://photozou.jp/

After you re-login, we will see you there!

And don't worry, your Artworks, comments, and diary entries will be all there, too, unless you decide to terminate your account.

Thank you very much for being supportive for all this time.

We hope to see you on our Japanese version, and if not, it's ashame, but you and your Artworks will be in our mind, forever!

See you soon!

Sincerely,
PhotoZou Development Team

        Hello everyone!

It's been awhile...quite awhile! We apologize for the long silence, but we are really excited to tell you about some of our latest updates.

First, we have added a new Categories option into the PhotoZou menu. As of now, the only category available is Dogs, but we are planning on adding more very soon.

All the pictures and videos listed under the category "Dog" are those that have been tagged as such. You can tag a photo or video from that particular piece of artwork's page.

This is your chance to show off your precious pups to people outside of the dog park! Go ahead and try it out.

In other PhotoZou news: PhotoZou is now compatible with Vox This...so you can upload your artwork from PhotoZou directly into your Vox account!

Don't worry, it's easy to use!
The Vox "V" will now appear underneath popular photos on PhotoZou, so you can take them directly from their PhotoZou home and transport them into your Vox service.

(Vox is a free blogging service brought to you by Six Apart Inc.)

Thank you,

Here, I would like to introduce a unique project which took place in Japan last month.

In this project we issued a totally new type of magazine called "ZOOMo" which is a user-driven photo magazine made by PhotoZou users.

There has been over 3000 photo submissions, and we have chosen about 100 out of these photos.

And finally, the magazine has come out on May 19th at large book stores in Japan and internet book stores such as amazon!

Cover of ZOOMo posted by (C)PhotoZou

The pictures look quite professional, being printed on high-class printing papers.

In our first issue, we had 3 interviews from photozou users on the topic of "Photos, Photozou and Me".

Of course we have several other contents that non-photozou users can enjoy as well, such as tips on taking pictures or tips on image processing.

The buzz of this magazine has spread largely within a month and the word "ZOOMo" has been ranked in Top Searches on Technorati on May 22nd. There are already several requests for the second issue of ZOOMo.

We are now proud to announce our official renewal of PhotoZou.

We are really grateful for all your comments and requests you gave us during the preview period.
We've added the following contents referring to your comments and requests.

◎We've added a link to "Album" as a sub-menu for "Photos & Videos"
Corresponding to the remark that it has become harder to get to the Album page, we have added a link to the Album page as a sub-menu for "Photos & Videos". You can get to the link by clicking the "Photos & Videos" button in the navigation window on your right.

◎We've made the font sizes in the navigation window a bit bigger.
We've made the font sizes bigger in the links with icons in the Main Menu ("Photos & Videos","Diary","Mail" etc.) to make them more visible.

◎We've improved the catalogue pages of Mails and Community Topics.
We've shortened the length of the date so that we can display longer titles. A simple idea for effective use of the limited space on the browser.

We will keep on developing our service adopting your comments and requests. Please feel free to contact us for any requests.
If you have any comments or suggestions on the new version of PhotoZou, please let us know through "PhotoZou" Community. We welcome and appreciate all your feedback.

We're all looking forward to see more of you at PhotZou!

Princess Kiko has given birth to a little prince and the whole island of Japan is in a ceremonious mood that has extended past borders as well.

The birth of a baby boy will, for the time being, put an end to taking a step in amending the law concerning female heir. The new prince is third in line after his own father and uncle. The prince, his sisters, and his parents are allowed one butler each whereas his uncle’s family has 17 butlers on hand per person! No wonder Princess Masako is depressed. The yearly budget for the prince’s uncle’s family is 300 million a year whereas the new prince’s family is allowed only a 60 million by which are all paid by tax money. On the other hand, economy specialists are analyzing that there should be a whopping increase in economic growth especially in the areas of baby goods and the government is also hoping that young couples will be encouraged to have babies of their own.

I extend my congratulations to Princess Kiko and pray that her baby will grow up strong, healthy, and happy.

The picture above is what's called a recruit suit. Everyone wheres one similar to it while job hunting, after all, you don't want to stand out in Japan while job hunting.

Job hunting is intense in Japan. The tedious process of trying to get a job is much likely unthinkable for those of you living in the US.

First of all, you apply online by filling in personal information, educational background, as well as your “thoughts on the company,” your part time job experiences, sports, interests, etc. If you are lucky, you get a mail and the next step is taking basic tests in the field of math, Japanese, and English which is nothing basic. Most people will fail this test but if you do pass then you move onto “group work”. About 5 to 8 people will do what is called “group work” where you get about 30 minutes to review a “real-life” problem. Interviewers will walk around the room and check to see if you are participating (but not overbearing), have communication/presentation skills, speaking well, have ideas, etc. Maybe 3 to 5 of these people will pass. Then it’s onto real group　(5 people max) interviews where interviewers will ask you questions about leadership, what your dream is, what you most worked on during college, what sports you played, etc. More than half will fail here. And then you can finally move onto interviews where you go alone but beware of the multiple interviewers who will pretty much ask the same questions over and over. About 3 more of those “personal” interviews, one last CEO interview and you made it!

You must start your junior year in university and you get a job after about a year. On an average people apply to around 100 to 200 jobs. And maybe get accepted to 2 or 3 (if you’re lucky). Crazy isn’t it!!
